World Wellness Weekend/Hotel Mousai Updates/Interview with VDPC’s Charismatic Pool Butler
Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta
World Wellness Weekend 2020
The fourth ever World Wellness Weekend 2020 took place on September 19th and 20th. This year, 1,123 venues participated in 109 countries. While that is less than the 2,356 venues that participated in 2019, this year’s event was the largest event promoting healthy lifestyles in the midst of a pandemic.
The goal of the weekend is to inspire more people to lead an active lifestyle and to make healthy choices. The COVID-19 situation reminds us just how important it is to maintain a strong immune system.
For Spa Imagine Puerto Vallarta, it was an honor to participate in World Wellness Weekend 2020 offering free outdoor wellness activities. Our focus was on the 3rd pillar of well-being “Vitality and Movement”. Vitality is related to the physical and mental states and movement focuses on moving through physical activities to achieve balance and comprehensive well-being. For that, we offered kayaking on September 19th and a hike to a waterfall on September 20th.
Together, let’s keep on moving and being active!

Villa del Palmar Cancun
Interview with Moises Tec, Pool Butler
Moises Tec shares his passion for excellent customer service in this exclusive Q&A
Meet Moises Tec, your Pool Butler at Villa del Palmar Cancun Luxury Beach Resort & Spa. Originally from Cancun, he began his career in the hotel industry with his first position as a bartender. He took some time out of his busy schedule to share a little about himself with members.
Tell us a little bit about your career path?
I started my career in the hotel industry at the age of 21. I worked as a bartender for five years at Villa del Palmar Cancun’s neighboring hotel, Excellence Playa Mujeres. Dedicated to always improving myself, I was then given the opportunity to work as beach concierge at Secrets Akumal. From there I progressed and developed professionally before coming to work at Villa del Palmar Cancun in 2018.
I am dedicated to creating exceptional guest experiences and I know that I have managed to make a difference here with our guests due to the continuous praise and positive comments that our guests leave about me on Facebook and Tripadvisor, which I really appreciate! Please keep posting your (positive) comments!
When did your interest in the hotel industry begin?
It started when I realized that I like providing attention to guests, talking with them and being able to help them however I could. People tell me that I am very charismatic and I am also very sociable, which makes working in a hotel a very enjoyable experience for me. It suits my nature.
I also learned English at a young age and before coming to work in the hospitality industry, I was not practicing my English at all. Now, I can practice my English every day with our guests and I continually improve, which is important to me.
What inspired you to come to work at Villa del Palmar Cancun?
I heard about Villa del Palmar Cancun’s reputation and the hotel seemed very nice. I applied for a bartending position here at first, but I didn’t get the job due to not having enough experience.
I stayed determined to get a position here and after I gained experience as a beach and pool concierge, I decided to give it another try. I applied for the position of Pool Butler, and on my second try, I was accepted.
I am certain that everything happens in our lives for a reason. I am very happy that I persisted with my goal to work here and being a Pool Butler here is very fulfilling. Many of our guests, members and co-workers have become much more than friends, and I consider them part of my family.
Sometimes guests contact me to let me know that they will be back soon and request for me to attend to them and to provide the excellent service that characterizes us here at Villa del Palmar Cancun.
Even when this is your passion, it must be exhausting. What do you do to revitalize yourself?
Spending time with my family revitalizes me. During my time off, I go to mixed martial arts training with my wife and 7-year-old son. We also enjoy watching movies, playing board games, and just being together.
What does Cancun mean to you?
It represents my home, my roots, the place where I was born. Cancun is known for its culture, history, and natural beauty. There is so much to discover here including cenotes, mixed cuisine, and its stunning beaches.
What do you recommend guests to do when they visit Cancun?
I like to recommend to our guests, places that I have visited that I know they will fall in love with. Cancun is full of pleasant experiences and beautiful surroundings. I don’t want to give away all my secrets, but the next time you stay at Villa del Palmar Cancun, ask for Moises, the Pool Butler. I would love to talk with you and share with you my favorite recommendations for things to do in Cancun.
