Emergencies can escalate quickly while traveling through your Vacation Ownership.
Chubb Travel Assistance Services are only a phone call away. You may call anytime to get the assistance you need to help manage your travel risk. As a Chubb client you will have 24/7 access to emergency assistance when you are traveling away from home to request assistance for medical, travel or personal reasons assistance. Below are some of the most frequently asked questions members ask when reviewing the Chubb plans.

Q: Should we contact Chubb first or our regular health insurance provider? Does it matter who contacts Chubb?
A. It is important to contact the local 911 for medical emergencies, however, Chubb Travel Assistance is available for 24/7 assistance for medical monitoring, doctor or hospitable referrals, emergency medical transportation arrangements, and more. The plans also include transportation after stabilization. We encourage you to contact Chubb Travel Assistance as soon as possible and they will assist with your medical emergency. Any party can contact Chubb Travel Assistance to open the case on the member’s behalf.

Q: What does the Chubb ResortCom Basics Plan include with my Vacation Ownership?
A. The ResortCom Basics plan includes coverage for emergency medical transportation, repatriation of remains, return of dependent children, and transportation after stabilization when you are traveling using your Vacation Ownership account. This coverage is available when traveling 100 miles or more from your primary residence, provided you are traveling to, from, or are at one of your resorts or on an exchange. This plan also includes the 24/7 Assistance Services if you have any questions while you are traveling.

Q: What are the benefits of electing to upgrade the coverage for the Chubb ResortCom Essentials Plan vs. “traditional” travel insurance?
A. The ResortCom Basic and Essentials plan were designed to provide coverage when you are traveling using your Vacation Ownership or through a Vacation Ownership exchange. The plans provides coverage on an annual basis versus having to purchase each time you travel as with traditional travel insurance available on a single trip basis. The Essentials plan includes post departure benefits including Trip Delay, Baggage & Personal Effects, Accident & Sickness Medical Expense and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation of Remains coverage. Accident & Sickness Medical Expense and Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation of Remains are available only when traveling 100 miles or more from your primary residence. The Essentials plan also includes the 24/7 Assistance Services if you have any questions while you are traveling.

Q: How does reimbursement for medical or travel benefits work?
A: In the event you have a claim, you will direct those claims to Chubb for review based on the policy wording. You will need to complete a claim form, provide proof or documentation for the loss for review by the Chubb claims team. The Accident & Sickness Medical Expense and Baggage & Personal Effects coverages are in excess of your personal insurance. Medical & Baggage & Personal Effects claims should be submitted to your primary medical or homeowners insurance company first and provide a copy of your explanation of benefits (EOB). The member can then submit the remaining expenses along with the EOB from their primary insurances with their claim for Chubb Travel Protection to review. Emergency Transportation Arrangements must be made through Chubb Travel Assistance Provider and may be declined if arrangements were not completed by the designated assistance provider.

Q: Who is covered under my Chubb ResortCom Basics Plan?
A: The Chubb ResortCom Basics plan applies to anyone listed on the Vacation Ownership for benefits. Example, if spouses are both listed on the contract, the wife will be covered by the benefit no matter if she is traveling with the husband or not. Should the spouses have a child that was not listed on the resort contract, the child would not be eligible for services if traveling alone without the parents unless he was traveling to their designated resort and had a verified guest certificate. Additionally, guests in the travel party are not covered unless they are on the contract. However, anyone traveling with the members (up to 6 traveling companions total) are covered for benefits on the ResortCom Essentials plan.

Q: If I use my regular week, but then rent additional days directly from the hotel, am I covered for all portions of the trip?
A: Yes, as long as it is part of the same Vacation Ownership trip or exchange.

Q: If I am traveling with my children, but I leave after week one and they still longer, are they covered?
A: Yes, as long as they have the valid guest certificate through the Vacation Ownership, they would be eligible for coverage.

Q: Are all members in my travel party covered? Do they have to be listed on same reservation? Can they be in different rooms? Do they have to have same exact travel dates?
A: If traveling with the member, this would be available on the ResortCom Essentials plan. They do not need to be on same reservation and can be in different rooms. Dates should reflect the majority of the trip sharing the same travel dates.

Q: If the hotel reassigns or upgrades me to a room in a neighboring property, are all members of my travel party still covered?
A: Yes, as long as they are traveling with a member through the Vacation Ownership, and the member has the ResortCom Essentials Plan.

Q: If I have purchased separate Covid travel insurance coverage, which policy is primary – that policy or the Chubb policy?
A: COVID is treated like any other medical condition. The ResortCom Essentials plan would provide coverage for Accident & Sickness Medical Expense due to COVID with a positive diagnosis from a medical professional. The medical coverages are in excess of their personal medical insurance.

Q: If I am driving to visit my mother 200 miles away, and something happens, what specific coverages apply?
A: The ResortCom Basics and ResortCom Essentials plans only provide coverage when traveling using your Vacation Ownership or exchange.

Q: How will I know which city or hospital I will be transferred to? What medical services will be covered?
A: As stated above, it is important to contact the local 911 for medical emergencies, however, Chubb Travel Assistance is available to 24/7 assistance for medical monitoring, doctor or hospitable referrals, emergency medical transportation arrangements, and more. The plans also include transportation after stabilization. We encourage you to contact Chubb Travel Assistance as soon as possible and they will assist with your medical emergency. You should contact Chubb Travel Assistance Services Team as soon as reasonably possible so we can evaluate the medical situation, assist the nearest adequate medical facility, consult with the local physicians, and proceed with assistance as outlined in the policy. All emergency transportation arrangements need to be coordinated by the designated assistance services team. Once the member is stabilized, Chubb Travel Assistance will then assist with transportation to return home.
