Chubb Travel Insurance: Member Experience

Chubb Travel Insurance: Member Experience

What happened

Prior to departing for her Los Cabos resort, a member saved the international phone number for Chubb’s 24/7 Travel Assistance team to her mobile phone so she could seek emergency assistance if needed.

She arrived at her resort, excited to kick off her vacation. While out for a walk one morning, she was hit by a car and suffered multiple injuries—including a broken pelvis. The local emergency authorities were contacted, and she was transported to a local hospital where she was stabilized.

How our coverage responded

The member called Chubb’s Travel Assistance team to explain the situation and the extent of her injuries. The Travel Assistance team coordinated with the treating local physician to determine when she was medically fit to travel so she could be transported home to the United States. They arranged for her safe transport home via air ambulance while also taking care of all required accommodations.

Chubb’s Travel Assistance team coordinated the submission of the member’s claim, with the policy ultimately providing $1,000 in accident medical expenses and $50,000 in emergency evacuation expenses under the Chubb Essentials plan. Chubb, our Travel Assistance team, and the local physicians in Los Cabos worked together to get the member home safely and comfortably so she could finish her recovery from the accident.

CHUBB Travel Insurance: Member Experience An Injured Wrist Threatens to Derail a Resort Vacation

What Happened

In preparation for his resort vacation, a member decided to upgrade to the Chubb Essentials insurance plan to ensure he had additional coverage for medical expenses. He also saved the international phone number for Chubb’s 24/7 Travel Assistance team to his mobile phone, just in case he needed it.  The day had finally come, and he arrived at his resort in Mexico, looking forward to his stay. Just a few hours later, he missed a step on a stairway, and he soon realized the severity of his injury as his wrist throbbed with excruciating pain.

How Our Coverage Responded

The member immediately sought assistance from the resort staff, who promptly called their on-site doctor. The resort's experienced physician examined his wrist carefully. Suspecting a fracture, he recommended getting an X-ray at the nearest hospital to confirm the diagnosis. The results confirmed that he had indeed fractured his wrist. He received a prescription for pain relief and had his wrist immobilized via a cast to facilitate the healing process.
