Mother’s Day Celebrations
Mother’s Day is a day devoted to honoring mothers and it is celebrated around the world, but not always on the same day. This tradition started in the United States in 1907 and in the U.S. this day is always celebrated on the second Sunday of May, but in Mexico it is always celebrated on May 10th, regardless of which day it falls on. In Mexico, the Mother's Day (Día de las Madres) holiday started much later on May 10th, 1922, so actually this year will mark the 100th anniversary of celebrating Mother's Day in Mexico.
For families planning to take a vacation that coincides with these dates, mothers have the added advantage of being able to celebrate this special day twice. In Mexico, the tradition differs slightly and the custom is to wake mom up on May 10th with the traditional song "Las Mañanitas".
So, if you do have plans to be in Mexico this year on May 10th, you can wake up mom the Mexican way! Here’s a list of what the resorts have planned especially for Mother’s Day:
Garza Blanca Los Cabos
On Mother’s Day, during breakfast, all mothers staying with us will receive a beautiful rose. During the day, the Kids’ Club team will be in charge of taking photos of the kids with their mothers using a decorative photo frame. In the evening, there will be a special set menu at all Garza Blanca’s restaurants. So, join us in Los Cabos as we celebrate all the wonderful mothers out there!
Villa del Palmar Cancun
On May 8th, Villa del Palmar Cancun will celebrate Mother´s Day with some special traditions to recognize all moms. At the main pool, next to Zama restaurant, the Activities Team will be taking family photos behind a decorative photo frame. At the Kids‘ Club, children can make their own special gift for mom. They can participate in a fun craft session to make a trophy for the best mom or a keychain.
For families that would like to reward mom with an extra special treat, the Village Spa will be offering a promotion on two of its incredible high-tech treatments, the HydraFacial and Binary Premium, and will receive a special Natura Bissé kit.
If you are planning on having a quick breakfast before taking mom out on a fun excursion, Palmita Market & Deli will be selling a special Mother's Day Breakfast Box. Each mom will also receive a rose when dining at any of the on-site restaurants.
Garza Blanca Cancun
To celebrate Mother’s Day this year, each of Garza Blanca Cancun’s restaurants is cooking up a special Mother’s Day set menu on Sunday, May 8th, and our Activities Team will present a beautiful rose to all of the mothers who are staying with us. The Kids’ Club team will be helping the kids to make a special craft for mom. For an extra special Mother‘s Day gift, treat mom to a healing treatment at the brand-new Spa Imagine or ask Concierge about special in-room amenities that can be purchased including decorations and flowers.
Garza Blanca Puerto Vallarta
In Puerto Vallarta, Garza Blanca will honor mothers on May 8th by offering a special set menu at BocaDos Steak House and Blanca Blue from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm. The set menu includes a bottle of red, white, or sparkling wine and each mom will receive a flower.
